Bertrand Laville

My name is Bertrand Laville, my interest in the plant world began when I was 18, I attended a horticultural high school in France, for several years I learned to create, prune, plant, maintain green species, private gardens.

It becomes a real passion when I arrive in Martinique and discover the tropical vegetation.

Three years later I left for Laos, during my many walks in the forest I discovered orchids, fixed on the trees, the rocks, on the ground, the mountains, the rivers, the streams, from there, this passion for this family of plants.

I decided to create Vientiane Orchids with my sister and my brother-in-law, for 15 years we will contribute to the conservation and research of the different species of orchids found in Laos.

During all these years, in addition to our main activity, we created the Orchid Trek in a natural park near Vientiane, a protected area in partnership with a village, it’s give and take, we bring people to see the orchids in a natural environment and the villagers protect this area.

Over the years, I now work as a consultant for different identification projects, photography, recesses, all for the conservation of my passion: orchids.
