Description: Both Charaxes species are common in montane forests at low to high elevations (Alt. 20 - 1800m). Eriboea solon is more localized.
Both male and female are polymorphic and very variable. The populations in the continental Indo-china region are highly variable and individual and seasonal variation seems to be more pronounced than geographic variation.
Males have a strong predilection for feeding on fermented fruits, rotten flesh, and animal faeces. Females are rarely seen, feeding on sap from trees who lost a branch.
They can be seen in March and April, and again from September to November.
