Description: Epicopeia polydora is locally common in Laos, but has only a short flying period every year. Caterpillars are gregarious, which makes them very susceptible to parasites.
In flight they mimic very well the toxic models Byasa polyeuctes and Byasa dasarada.
They feed on Ulmus tree, which can be found in Laos from 700-1200m.
The pattern of their wings is very variable, some specimens having very extended white makings on hindwings and others beain almost black (in this case, mimicking Atrophaneura aidoneus)
It can be seen in May, with some particular years where not even one specimen is on the wings.
