Description: Pachliopta aristolochiae is a model of mimicry for other Papilio species, like Papilio agenor or Papilio polytes. Its caterpillar feeds on Aristolochia spp. and concentrates an alkaloid, a toxin that repels predator from eating them. Its aposematic colours warn predators of its toxicity.
Byasa polyeuctes is another species used as a model for other Papilionidae species, and even Epicopeia polydora, a Day Flying Moth.
Lamproptera meges is the smallest species of Papilionidae in the world. In flight it is similar to some kind of Hymenoptera.
Pachliopta and Byasa can fly even under small rain showers, and can be observed from March until October.
